CASE STUDY – Flat Steel Price Forecast
Problem – The organisation is the leading engineering company in India having very high reputation across the globe. Project costing is a very vital process in project consulting as it takes 4-5 years to get a very big project operational. The price of steel products both long and flat is very critical and can create severe impact on the entire project due to cost overrun. Wanted to know how variation in macroeconomic factors influences the demand, supply and price of steel products. The client was interested to construct statistical models of demand, supply and price using the macroeconomic factors which can be used to forecast prices over a period of 5 years.
Solution – The data related to various macroeconomic factors along with Demand, Supply and Price data were collected from various authentic sources. Then we used Structured Simultaneous Equation Modelling and ARIMA. The analytical tool was packaged and implemented for regular usage by Client’s consulting teams.
CASE STUDY – Newsprint Safety Stock Analysis
Problem – The organisation procures large volume of newsprint from USA and Canada. The price of newsprint is a very critical factor for newspaper industry, as it has a direct impact on the bottom line. The client wanted forecast for newsprint prices for coming four quarters and the stock levels to be maintained. The stock levels were dependent on data consists of shipping lead time, total lead time (which is a sum of order lead time and shipping lead time), consumption of 140 cm newsprint, procurement of 140 cm newsprint and opening stock figures.
Solution – We determined the Service level, that is the probability of demand during lead time being less than or equal to the amount of stock you had left when you ordered. We found that the consumption (demand) of 140 cm imported newsprint follows Log Normal distribution while the Total Lead Time (Shipping lead time plus Order lead time) also follows Log Normal distribution. We implemented the solution as SSL Module and integrated the module with existing Stock Management System.
CASE STUDY – Statistical Tools for Process Review
A leading energy meter manufacturer approached us to identify and implement statistical tools in manufacturing and assembly processes for process control and quality improvement. After a detailed study we found that most of processes were not non-normal thereby invalidating standard methods of constructing control charts. Our consultants had to develop new control charting tools for controlling such processes. The developed tools were implemented as part of process control application for the client.

Making the Web Accessible: WAI – ARIA
Using “Rigel”, a specialized platform from, Team Grandeur provides Web Access solutions using WAI-ARIA [Web Accessibility Initiative – Accessible Rich Internet Applications] guidelines that define the specification for ontology of roles, states, and properties, Defines accessible user interface elements. This is used to improve the accessibility and interoperability of web content and applications. These semantics are designed to allow an author to properly convey user interface behaviors and structural information at document level.
Principles – The WAI at the W3C recommends that In order to be accessible, web content must be:
- Perceivable: output of web content available through multiple sensory modalities
- Operable: input methods of content functionally works with a wide range of input devices
- Understandable: content and interfaces that people can comprehend
- Robust: compatible with a broad range of user agents, including assistive technologies
Laws & Penalties –

- The European Union has issued mandates and policies related to web accessibility
- Further UK Ireland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy has own rules
- Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, and Hong Kong also has accessibility laws
On March 28, 2014, the Department of Justice, USA issued a Final Rule that adjusts for inflation the civil monetary penalties. For the ADA, the penalty has been revised up to $75,000 and for a subsequent violation the new maximum is $150,000

The overlay-packages are run locally on our test servers against your website and review the fix of each of the violations on all major browsers. In extremely rare cases, if there are defects/violations that cannot be fixed through overlays (colour combinations, hard-coded behaviour etc.), full information would be provided to you so that it can be fixed in your code.
